Attendees are currently gathering at this year’s Global Metaverse Virtual Conference. Hosted by Global Big Data Conference, this year’s event runs from the 27th to the 29th of April, features over 1,000 attendees, more than 35 speakers across more than 30 sessions, keynotes, workshops, and an opportunity for start-up companies to pitch their ideas.
Billed as “the largest vendor agnostic virtual conference in AR/VR/MR/XR space”, themes for this year’s event include: augmented, virtual, mixed and extended reality use cases across agriculture, the automotive industry, education, energy, finance, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing and retail; non-fungible tokens (NFTs), digital identity, security, and policies and regulations.
Big names attending this year’s event include some of the world’s largest companies, such as Apple, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Meta (Facebook), Nvidia, Visa, Walmart, Exxon Mobil, Samsung and Mastercard. Alongside Visa and Mastercard, there is a significant financial industry attendance in including Bank of America, Bank of Tokyo, Capital One, Citigroup, Freemont Bank, Morgan Stanley, and PayPal. Interestingly, neither HSBC or JPMorgan are listed, both of whom have already dipped their toe in the Metaverse.
There’s a packed 3-day schedule with a series of keynotes kicking off each day. On Day 1 Samsung NEXT are already talking about the future of the Metaverse, on Day 2 we have Nokia discussing mixed reality, and on Day 3 we have Larsen & Toubro Infotech’s Head of Technology telling us 5 things to know for Metaverse adoption.
Announcements ahead of this year’s conference have included promotion of XR Immersive Tech’s CEO Tim Bieber’s session, where he’ll be discussing how VR gaming and entertainment will be a foundational part during the first wave of the Metaverse. The company’s ‘UNCONTAINED’ VR attraction is a portable 680 square foot container that provide everything required for six people to enter the Metaverse.
We may or may not be back for a recap on Day 3 to cover any key announcements and to see how this year’s conference ends.
